Mark Nelson

Mark Nelson is a British photographer and film maker who works from his studio (First Light) in Brighton UK. Mark has exhibited his images worldwide including major exhibitions in Berlin (This Being, That Becomes) and at the University of Brighton (First Light Still). He has made films for National Geographic and TVF International (Timeless Journeys India/The River Series) and recently his film ‘Berlin Alexanderplatz’ won the Brighton Rocks I Film Festival which then toured Europe. His current project is an Art House film set in Las Vegas and the Mojave Desert. Pre-production is almost complete, and the film ‘A Place About 50 Miles West of Here’ begins shooting in March 2020. The soundtrack can be heard through iTunes, Amazon and streamed on most platforms including Spotify etc. The installation ‘Remain Sitting at Your Table and Listen’ had its inaugural screening at the Brighton Rocks II film festival in 2019. His second installation recently completed but not yet shown ('Last Night I Dreamed in the Bardo'), is a meditation on the process of passing through the Bardo from life to life. Mark has been a practicing Buddhist for 20 years and his work is often created through the lens of his Buddhist beliefs.
